Who doesn’t love a gadget?
How about a tech gadget for your Wedding Day?!
For a truly plugged-in Wedding, this week I’ve rounding up some of the best Wedding Tech that the industry has to offer, to bring your Wedding into the 21st Century!
1. A Wedding Website & Digital invitations
Ok, so not strictly a gadget and also not that new, but creating a Wedding Website for your big day is a great way to modernise your Wedding in a straightforward and easy to use way. Not only can you send out invitations and receive responses through your on-line Wedding platform, you can keep your guests up-to-date with all of your latest Wedding info. in a simple, quick and easy-to-use format; saving you time, keeping you organised and with less stress. And to top it off, it’s also an environmentally and budget friendly option (no need for all those paper Wedding Invites!).
But if you’re still a traditionalist at heart, why not send out your invites in the traditional method, but have an online platform to receive the responses and send all of the "extra" information?!
There are an abundance of free Wedding Websites online, that you can tailor to your needs. However, if you want a little bit more than your average Wedding Website, why not ask your Wedding Stationer to support you in tailoring your Wedding Website to your Wedding invitation suite or your Wedding theme? Stationery designer, Lauren at Thirty Three Px, can design your stationery and your wedding website for you, making sure your Wedding theme and style are consistent throughout!
Setting up a WhatsApp group for your guests is also a quick and easy way to get information distributed quickly to your Wedding guests.
2. Create your own Hashtag
A sure way to link all of your Wedding Data and capture every moment, in one place on social media. By connecting your guests with a personalised Hashtag, you’ll ensure that nothing is missed. It’s also a great way to collate guest photos from your Wedding, by tagging them with your unique, personalised hashtag. Why not give your guests an edible reminder, with a hashtag cookie Wedding favour? You could ask your guests to complete a Wedding themes photography scavenger hunt- taking photos from a scavenger hunt list and tagging them with your Wedding hashtag- you’re bound to get some fun… and interesting photos of your special day!
3. Drone photography for unique aerial shots of your Wedding Day
This is the perfect one to discuss with your Wedding Photographer and Videographer, as drone photography is becoming so popular and so common at Weddings. It’s the perfect way to capture stunning shots of your venue, your entrance as well as those group photos of your Wedding Guests. Oh and did I mention the epic couples shots?!
Would you go a step further and have a drone deliver your Wedding rings to the alter?!
4. Hidden cameras to capture the best candid moments
Whether you sneak a tiny camera into your Wedding Bouquet to capture your walk down the aisle, or hide one above the dance floor, a hidden camera can capture all of the best candid and unforgettable moments that make your Wedding unique and special to you.
5. Wedding Selfie Sticks
A golden oldie that never gets boring! Supplying a bunch of selfie sticks to your guests at the reception, will keep them entertained whilst you're having your professional photos snapped, and give you plenty of candid shots to browse after the big day! … and don’t forget the hashtag!
6. Interactive Photobooths
Bring on the props, as your guests take some unique and candid photos at your Wedding- you could even use them instead of a traditional guestbook! If you’re looking for more of a text based guest book, online, digital guests books are also available that can either be stored digitally or printed as a hardcover album.
Take the photobooth to the next level with a 360 photobooth, such as wearego360.
7. Have a virtual guest book
If you’re traditional at heart and still want a guest book, but don’t want it gathering dust on a shelf after your Wedding, why not opt for a virtual guest book, where your friends and family can include a sentimental note, as well as a photo if they choose, for you to cherish for years to come. Check out sites such as withjoy.com, kudoboard.com, wed.tv or mydigitalguestbook.com. If you’re more of a video message kind of couple, then try out weddingmix or guestpix.com for photo and video entry options.
Create a QR code for your site and all your guests can easily connect to your virtual guestbook.
Alternatively, consider an audio guestbook, for your family and friends to leave a sentimental note for you to listen to later.
8. Live stream your Wedding Ceremony and Reception
An option that has been popular since the dreaded “C”… (Covid, for anyone that’s been living under a rock!), but also perfect for destination Weddings, live streaming your Wedding is the perfect option if you have family and friends that are unable to attend your Wedding. It means that even if you’re guests can’t be there in person, they can still be a part of your special day. With multiple streaming options (Facebook, Instagram, Zoom, WhatsApp to name just a few), there’s no need for anyone to miss out.
If you want to take your Wedding streaming to the next level, consider a full VR experience! Giving those guests that can’t be with you a fully immersive experience from the comfort of their own home!
9. Digital table plan
Send out an e-mail to each of your guests in advance telling them where they’ll be seated for the reception.
10. Project your Wedding Album
Can you imagine a more exciting backdrop for the first dance? – a collage of photos from your professionals and your guests, amalgamated into a photo collage and projected on the floor, walls or ceiling of your venue?
Do you have guests joining you online? Why not project their live feed onto the walls to make you feel that they’re truly part of your day.
11. 3D printed and Personalised favours
It’s easy to personalise your Wedding favours with 3D printing, creating the most perfect and memorable mementos from your Wedding Day. Whether you have favours made in advance, or request your printer to be present on the day to individually personalise your gifts for each of your guests, the world of 3D printing can be gifted at your Wedding.
Ever thought of a 3D printed cake topper (such as this elaborate creation), headpiece, sweets or treats? Another inventive way to incorporate this popular tech. at your Wedding.
12. Robotic Bartender
For the high-end-tech Wedding, consider a Robotic Bartender to make and serve drinks for your guests at your one of a kind reception! Options include the Makr Shakr range.
13. Mobile phone charging stations
Simple but effective, mobile phone charging stations will keep your guests happy and snappy all day (and night!) long- perfect to keep those Wedding hashtags rolling in!
14. Light mapping your Wedding cake
Yes… this is a real thing! We’ve all seen it large scale on buildings for big events, but light-mapping is now being offered for Wedding cake decoration. You can create elaborate designs to project onto your Wedding cake- so whether you choose flowers, photos, words or videos, you can map anything you want onto your cake, making it completely unique and personalised to you.
If you want to take Wedding décor to a whole new level then why not consider light-mapping your Wedding Venue- you can transform your venue space to anywhere in the world… or out of this world for that matter!
15. Collaborative Playlist
Set up a collaborative playlist on Spotify, and ask your guests to add their favourite tunes. When the playlist goes live at your Wedding, you’ll be sure to get everyone on the dancefloor! Alternatively if you have a DJ performing at your reception, use a digital song request system for your guests to submit their song choices throughout the day, to keep everyone boogying ‘til the early hours!
16. Heartrate monitor for your walk down the aisle
So you’ll always have a record of your heartbeat, as you said “I do”!
17. Consider high tech Wedding Rings
Are you a fan of your smart watch? Would you love a Wedding Ring that can do more?! Then why not consider a smart ring, for your Wedding Bands. With a range of options available that can connect with your phone and send you notifications, track your steps, your sleep, your heartrate, even make contactless payments; there are plenty of options available for the romantic, gadget lover!
